Open Development

Seems like Adobe is in search of a purpose and goal since John Knoll left them. While they focus on the “Open Data Initiative” with Microsoft and SAP, they have developed on NNIE/AI projects like Adobe Sensei. Adobe developer’s improved the workflow for creative Users with the Adobe Sensei NNIE. That’s great news for professionals to get those administrative tasks done automatic. Almost unnoticed they lost ground on former Adobe core technologies like pixel-sampling and image-denoising.

Seems like they need some additional image magic to sell their licensed tools, brushes, photos, footage, templates… and make their shareholders happy.

Adobe is still an industry standard, but not innovation leader anymore. Obviously, they want to change that by involving FOSS technology leaders. Build on top of their ported code Adobe just needs to use some “magic” tricks and their subscribers will buy it, don’t they? On the other hand, Adobe aquired Software Companies not just in the past to get rid of the competition and defend their position as industry standard. It’s up to the Designers, the daily YOUsers and their Clients if they fall for Adobe’s “magic” marketing.
